Why chewing gum is a crime in Singapore
Singapore. Highly
civilised, air
conditioned everywhere, spiiting,
jaywalking, eating or drinking food on the metro, they all mean fines
of 500-1000 $ or more. Possesing drugs means death penalty. Posessing
or eating chewing gum is a crime! Why? Well, in Singapore they have
these very civilised airconditioned metros, with sliding doors both on
the train and on the platform.

When chewing gum was still allowed, people used to drop it everywhere, including in the sliding doors channel. Sliding doors stuck. Havoc! Therefore, the Government gathered to fid a solution, and they came up with a nice innovative one: a total ban on chewing gum!

Singapore is not a country, it's a big shopping mall! Everywhere you look you'll find a shopping centre, a mall, a market. It is full of glass, steel, lights, plastic and concrete.
Where its not a mall, it's a tourist place. They also built a sort of entertainment part, The Sentosa Island, with a fake jungle,

The Universal Studios and lots and lots of tourist attractions. It's a haven for shoppers, confort seeking tourists, with a decent night life, a terribly boring place for everyone else. I'll let pictures speak for themselves.
