the Akshardham Temple

... everyonce in a while travelling gets me to places that manage to dramatically amaze me, just about when I thought I saw it all. I have seen quite a few temples already here in India, but one tops them all by a loooong shot: the Akshardham Temple. Virtually unknown, due to its recent construction, this temple is practically impossible to describe in words. Pictures are worth a thousand words, but even pictures will not be enough to describe it. You simply have to go there. Several times!
It is impressive not so much by its size, but by the incredible, amazing, unbelievable amount of decorations and details. Every part of it is a wonder. There are thousands of carvings and statues adorning its walls, hundreds of elephants supporting the temples, garden landscaping of amazing beauty and large water fountain complexes.
when I saw this temple I was thinking that there is nothing even similar in Europe. Maybe the Sagrada Familia from Barcelona. The Sagrada Familia has been under construction for more than 100 years now, and it is far from finished.

So, I was thinking, this temple must have taken 2-300 years to build. So I asked.

They answered. They built it in 5 years. I had to sit down for this... There are only two peoples in the world that can build such things: the Indian and the Chinese.

In the evening we could watch a water/light show. The idea behind it was to SEE the sounds, instead of just hearing them. Also, the meditation music they played had complex religious semnification.

I'll just let pictures speak onwards...
